The solution

A biomass cogeneration plants is a system of different high tech devices providing renewable and sustain energy with low cost.
The standard unit features:
- Computerized storage and handling complex, adapted to the needs of the client;
- A high temperature gasifier for the production of synthetic gas (syngas), this Ankur’s gasifier ANKUR uses an approach called “down draft” (down draft flow), useful to obtain continuous and clean gas flow;




- Filtration system to grant the working of the engine and the duration of the plants,
- A generator that supplies electricity and thermal energy though synthetic gases,
- Storage, neutralization and recycling of the by-products as a result of the operation,
- Electrical control system that manages the whole process,

THE PLANT

How the plant works

Working scheme

The biomass is loaded of the mouth of the hopper above the gasification, in the reaction area, where a partial and limited combustion raises the temperature of the material, using all the oxygen blown in the air. All these conditions cause a split of the biomass into components, such as carbon monoxide (20%) hidrigen (20%), carbon dioxide (10%) methane (3%) nitrogen (50%): this is “syngas”, the residue of the process is a spongy agglomerate with high levels of carbonic concentration (called biochar) used as soil improver or fuel.




The gas, treated in the right way, feed the internal combustion engine that works according to the Otto Cycle, connected to a unit where the power can be transferred to the public network or used entirely or partly by the client. Moreover, thermal energy can be obtained from this process, which is used for:
- Industrial and manufacturing processes;
- Heating for the rooms of a company;
- Production of domestic hot water (hotel complexes, food service,…)
- Heating of swimming pools or saunas, or other accommodations.
